After the holidays

Wow! The wall coverings are up, the carpet is down and the shelves are being assembled and installed as we write. It won't be long until books start moving into our library. It's going to be so worth the wait.

After the holidays

When we left for the holidays the library still had to have a lot of work done to it. The new windows were in, plus the beautiful blue cupboard. However there was still much to do. We wondered what would happen over the holidays? Would we notice a change?

We have watched with interest this week as the new windows have been placed in the library. Gee it has opened up the space. It is now so light and airy. Graham has worked so hard to get the windows and wallboard up. We hope you enjoy our library of photos.

The new wallboard has arrived and is waiting to be put up. We will have to take photos all week to keep a watch on the progress. We are going to talk to the builder and other workmen to see what jobs they are going to be doing this week.

Last week the builders were taking down some of the wallboards so that the electrician could lay cables. Most of the work happened behind the walls so the pictures don't show too much change. Several men spent time in the weekend going under the floor to lay the cables for electricity and computers. They said this was a yucky job as there is no room to even roll over. The builder put down floor boards so that the floor is even and flat.

Friday 17 August
There are several workmen in our library today. The electrician is running cables under the floor. The concrete is being sliced away by concrete cutters to allow for cabling and the computer cabling is happening as well. It has been quite loud with the cutting and banging but we don't mind. These pictures show the cables coming out of the walls and the batts being installed. Our new library is going to be very high tech and cosy. More news next week.

Things are moving really quickly. This photo was taken on Wednesday and the ceiling is gone. Already Batts are in place. Miss Schieving has been busy choosing colours for the walls. A big decision to make, but plenty of people helped her.

Monday the 13 of August and already the walls are coming down. The electrician is disconnecting the power so that the rest of the demolition can happen. Tomorrow he said there will be holes in the floor!

Our New School Library

Finally we had approval and by Friday 3 August the library was empty of all books and shelves. Most of the furniture was also gone. We have set up a new library in Room 6 while we wait for the redevelopment to happen. It is going to be so exciting.
